STORY TELLING
A story is defined as a set of different events happened in
life of a particular person at some particular instant of time. Stories are
interesting and everyone has a story. People share their stories with each
other.
Telling a story has different types of elements in it. These
elements together form an effective and interesting story.
At basic, all stories are generally based on a three-act
structure. This has three sub types:
1 Beginning
2 Middle
3 End
These three phases are basic part of a story. It is not
compulsory to place these elements in the same der as given. Different stories
use these elements differently. Generally, beginning consists of the goals,
middle consists of difficulties faced during reaching the goal and at the end
comes the climax where goal is achieved successfully.
During these elements story undergoes various other
elements. These elements are:
Causality
Conflicts
Complications
4 Character
Causality is the element which relate one event of a story
to the other. This is also called as inter-relation factor of the story. For example,
a person stole car from a parking and the police arrested him. In this the
stealing of car caused the person to be arrested. Stealing and being arrested
are inter-related to each other. Causality helps a lot in understanding the
story.
Conflicts are the elements which shows the difficulties
faced during reaching the aim in a story. Conflicts grab attention of the
audience. More the conflicts more will be the interest.
Complications are also like conflicts. The efforts done
during the story to get rid of conflicts give rise to complications. One
conflict can cause several complications. These also develop interest in the
mind of public.
Character is the leading element of the story. It is the
main focus of the audience and also called as the root of a story. All elements
depend upon the character during a story.
After these elements, the other element of storytelling is
called as archetype. It is also a character which can occur in various form at
various places and during various times in a story
If we consider an example of a story like the
story of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. His story also was in three phases followed by
difficulties. The beginning consist of his aim to do higher studies. The middle
were the difficulties and conflicts he faced to reach the goal. The issue of
money and the things he did for money were the complications. The final act was
the climax when his hard work helped him in reaching his goal where he
completed his studies and became a scientist. In this journey, his parents and
friends were consider to be archetype who motivated him to give up. So with
this example it is clear that every story is based on these elements which I
discussed earlier.
I too have a story of mine. When I was in class
10, I very much tensed about my studies. I was not able to handle the pressure
of my studies. I failed in the first semester exams and I was very
disappointed. I decided to give up on studies because I did very much hard work
during that time. But my father supported me a lot at that time. He motivated
me to work hard and everything will be fine. Then I started taking tuitions of
my subjects. Due to my hectic schedule I also suffered migraine at that time.
It was very harsh time period for me. Somehow I was able to recover myself from
this diseases. It was very difficult for me to manage the tuitions as well as
my school at the same time. But I didn’t lose hope and kept on doing my hard
work. At the end semester exams I was finally able to clear all my exams
successfully. I was very happy at that
time and this thing gave a lot more confidence for me to work harder for my
next level studies.
This story doesn’t relate to my logo. The logo I
choose was of different prospective. This was only a short story of mine which
showed my hard working nature of mine. I learned a lot from this phase of my
life so I wanted to share this tory with all.
